The simplest hand you can have is a pair. If after being dealt your cards you have two cards are the same number but of a different suit, you have a pair. If two people have a pair then the person with the highest pair wins.
The next best hand you can have is a two pair. This is when you have two pairs in your hand. If there are two people with two pairs, it is the person with the highest ‘kicker’ card, that being the fifth card (in Texas Hold ‘Em) wins.
Three of a kind is the next best hand; and after that it is a straight. A straight is when you have all your cards in a consecutive row. They do not have to be of the same suit. If there are two straights the player with the highest straight wins.
The next best hand is a flush. A flush is when you have five cards of the same suit. They do not have to be consecutive, just of the same suit. The next best hand is the full house. This is when you have three of a kind plus a pair. The highest three of a kind is the deciding factor when two players have a full house. A four of a kind is the next best; and the ultimate hand in poker is the royal flush. A royal flush is when you have five consecutive cards of the same suit.
In the USA, gambling had a gross revenue of $90.93 billion in 2006. Commercial casinos in the USA provide for over 354,000 jobs, and is an important part of the American economy, despite being restricted in many parts of the country. The gambling revenue can be divided into several sectors.
